Redeployment Panel Update – 24th August 2011

The DES has now given permission for most schools to proceed to advertise both their permanent posts (once panels are cleared) and temporary posts as normal.  This week the restricted areas have been reduced to one area (45km radius of Annascaul, Kerry)

Permanent

Other than the exceptions listed below, schools can proceed to fill their permanent vacancies through open recruitment provided the vacancy has been notified to the panel operator, the main panel remains clear, the supplementary panel is clear or all teachers remaining on panels have refused offers from Boards of Management on grounds of distance.

Fixed Term

Other than the exceptions listed below, schools can proceed to fill all their fixed term vacancies in the normal way provided they have notified the panel operator of all vacancies and the main redeployment panel remains clear (it is!).  Part-time vacancies may now be filled also (with the exceptions below).

According to the DES update this afternoon the following schools are excluded from the arrangements outlined above, ie these schools are not permitted to fill teaching vacancies at the moment:

1. Individual schools that have been separately notified in relation to the filling of a vacancy through the redeployment of a surplus permanent teacher;

2.   Schools of all patronage (across all panels) within 45km radius of Annascaul, County Kerry

There are currently 5 teachers officially on the Educate Together supplementary panel.  However, 2 of these teachers are due to be removed from the list shortly as they have accepted positions.  Schools who wish to advertise permanent vacancies must obtain written (email) refusal before proceeding to advertise.

An update has been sent to all principals and chairs this morning.
