On March 26th, 2025, a powerful sense of community and creativity filled the hall at Douglas Rochestown Educate Together as 200 pupils from six Educate Together primary schools across Cork came together for a unique, student-led Anti-Bullying Event.

Cork ETSS Leading Anti-Bullying Activities

This pioneering gathering marked the first of its kind for primary pupils in the Educate Together network, and it delivered a memorable day of learning, sharing and connection. The event was brilliantly facilitated by Transition Year students from Cork Educate Together Secondary School, who created a warm and welcoming environment that encouraged younger students to speak up, participate fully and explore important issues around bullying and kindness.

A Fantastic Atmosphere at the Student-Led Anti-Bullying Event

Throughout the day, pupils rotated through a series of interactive and expressive stations, including slam poetry, songwriting, kindness chain-making, restorative circles, art and painting and more. Each activity was designed to help students reflect on the impact of bullying and consider positive actions they could bring back to their own school communities.

The atmosphere in the hall was electric with energy and enthusiasm, as pupils engaged with the creative tasks and formed new friendships across schools. By the end of the day, participants left not only with beautiful artwork and memories, but with new tools and ideas to promote inclusion, empathy and kindness in their schools.

A Successful Day for All

A huge thank you goes to the fantastic Transition Year facilitators, whose leadership and enthusiasm were key to the day’s success. Their ability to connect with younger students ensured that everyone felt safe, respected and inspired to be agents of positive change.

This event stands as a shining example of what can be achieved when young people are empowered to lead and support one another. Plans are already underway to build on this success and make it an annual event in the Educate Together calendar.
