Roots of Empathy instructor training
Roots of Empathy is an international evidence based programme for primary schools. The programme aims to increase empathy and has shown dramatic effect in reducing aggressive type behaviours like bullying in the classroom while raiing children’s social/emotional competence and pro social skills. Information and Criteria to apply for the Training:
- Barnardos covers the Training costs and provides all materials / curriculums needed to deliver the programme. Personal travel expenses, accommodation or substitute cover for the training are not covered.
- Training consists initially of three full in person Training Days in Dublin in September 17th, 18th & 19thand in Athlone in October 1st, 2nd & 3rd . A fourth Training Day then takes place in each location the following February 2025.
- Training is not open to Classroom Teachers but is open to all other school staff such as SNAs, SET Teachers, HSCL, SCP and external voluntary or community agencies/personnel.
- If you would like to apply for a Training place we require that you and your school (if applicable) can commit to delivering the programme for a minimum of 2 years starting the year of Training.
- All Instructors trained in the programme are allocated a Mentor to support and guide them with the roll out of the programme throughout the year.
