Bray / Woodbrook / Shanganagh Educate Together primary school campaign

#VoteEducateTogether

The opening of the new primary school previously announced to serve the Bray/Woodbrook Shanganagh area has again been deferred. This school was due to open in September 2022.

The statement from the Department of Education reads:

“The Department has conducted a further exercise on the necessity for the establishment of these six schools in 2022, taking into account a number of factors, including the pace of delivery of the expected additional residential development in these school planning areas, associated enrolments and the capacity in existing schools in the area. The current exercise indicates that the position which pertained when the decision was taken to defer the five 2021 schools has not changed by a significant extent”.

The Department has said that it “will keep the pace of delivery of additional residential development in these school planning areas, along with updated enrolment data and demographic data under review and this will inform the timing of school requirements.

When patronage applications are opened Educate Together will apply for patronage of this school. Following this, the Department will open its dedicated Online Patronage Process System website for parents and carers residing in the designated catchment area of Bray, Woodbrook and Shanganagh. If you’re a parent or carer of a pre-school child and living in this area, you can vote for your patron of choice. The Department will collate the results and award patronage according to parental preference. It’s that simple!
