A Decade of Difference: Tuam Educate Together Celebrates 10 Years of Inclusive Education!

Here at Educate Together, we are incredibly proud to celebrate a landmark achievement for one of our school communities. Tuam Educate Together National School is officially celebrating its 10th anniversary!

For the past decade, this vibrant school has been a beacon of our ethos, providing a much-needed, equality-based choice for families in Tuam. It’s a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared vision for inclusive education.

Answering a Community’s Call

The school’s journey began in September 2015, established under Ireland’s divestment programme in direct response to proven local demand. From its very first day, Tuam ETNS has embodied the core principles we champion: creating a child-centred learning environment where every child is valued equally, regardless of their background, belief, or identity.

A Growing School with a Big Impact

A decade on, it’s inspiring to see how Tuam ETNS has flourished. The school now educates over 200 pupils, nurturing them academically and socially. Alongside the national curriculum, the school’s unique character is shaped by the Educate Together ‘Learn Together’ curriculum.

This curriculum ensures students gain a foundational understanding of world religions, ethics, and global citizenship, empowering them to become empathetic, respectful, and active citizens in a diverse world.

A Heartfelt Congratulations from All of Us

On this special occasion, our CEO, Emer Nowlan, extended a message to the entire school community:

“I want to extend my warmest congratulations to Nuala and the entire staff team, to the Board of Management, and to all the adults and children who have contributed to building such a positive and inclusive school environment. You have achieved so much in ten years, and your work is making a real difference in the lives of children and in the wider community.”

A Wonderful Celebration

The school community marked this fantastic milestone with a wonderful event on Wednesday, 26th November. The celebrations began with heartfelt student performances and were officially opened by Minister Seán Canney.

Afterwards, a lively Open House gave past and present pupils, parents, and staff a chance to reconnect and share memories, perfectly capturing the school’s vibrant spirit.

Building on a Strong Foundation for the Future

As we look back on a successful decade, we also look forward. Educate Together remains committed to supporting Tuam ETNS as they continue their campaign for the permanent building and facilities their dedicated students and staff deserve.

The story of Tuam ETNS is a powerful example of what our movement can achieve. Here’s to celebrating their first decade and to supporting them for many more to come.
