Motion 1: Education Welfare Act
The AGM calls on Educate Together to impress upon the DES the urgency of reviewing the Education Welfare Act, to include all children enrolled in Primary schools.

Motion 2: Teaching Principal
The AGM calls on Educate Together to highlight the unmanageable, inequitable and unrealistic portfolio of the teaching principal in a newly established and developing school and to negotiate with the Department of Education and Science a staffing schedule that significantly reduces the teaching duties of the principal teacher.

Motion 3: In-Service for Teachers in Educate Together Schools
The AGM calls on Educate Together to negotiate with the Department of Education and Science teacher in-service, modelled on the PCSP model for the Revised Primary Curriculum, for all teachers in Educate Together schools on the Learn Together programme. Proposed by Swords ETNS

Motion 4: Learn Together In-Service
The AGM calls on Educate Together to prioritise the facilitation of In-service Training in the Learn Together Programme for all teachers teaching in our sector.

Motion 5: Special Education and Resource Teachers and Provision
The AGM calls on Educate Together to communicate to the DES the urgent need to sanction the promised Special Education and Resource Teachers and to ensure that they are in a position to take up their duties no later than September 1st ’05. Furthermore the AGM calls on Educate Together to highlight in particular the schools that have had little or no Special Education provision since their establishment.

Motion 6: Class Size
The AGM calls on Educate Together to put pressure on the DES to ensure that the pupil teacher ratio is reduced to 20:1 at the earliest date possible and that no class exceeds 25 pupils (and 20 in the case of disadvantaged areas), to take account of the increased number of children with learning support and special needs in our classes and to allow teachers to deliver the revised curriculum with its emphasis on active learning to all our pupils, in line with commitments given in the Programme for Government, and bearing in mind that class size has not been reduced at all for the past three years.

Motion 7: Ethical Education Programme
This AGM welcomes the publication of the Ethical Education Programme Learn Together as an example of the contribution Educate Together can make to the provision of good quality education within the sector and more generally.

Motion 8: Board Training
The AGM calls on Educate Together, in consultation with other Patron bodies, to negotiate appropriate training for all newly appointed Boards of Management of newly established schools and, in particular, the Chairpersons of such Boards.

Motion 9: Temporary Accommodation
The AGM calls on Educate Together to negotiate with the DES an acceptable timeframe for the delivery of temporary accommodation taking account of the integrity of the school year and the rights of Board of Management members to a Summer Holiday.

Motion 10: Building Insurance
That Educate Together would seek clarification from the Department of Education and Science with respect to school building insurance and why individual schools are paying the insurance premiums on behalf of the State on buildings owned by the State.

Please delete “€10.00” and insert “€7.00” to read as follows:

Recognising the importance of maintaining a strong national voice for Educate Together in negotiating on behalf of member schools, and recognising the value of the professional services extended to members, this AGM sets the annual membership fee at €7.00 per child. This change to come into effect on 1st January 2006. The Audit Committee is empowered to take into account the local circumstances in schools when accepting payment. That all Educate Together schools pledge their full support to the National Office for wider Political Lobbying in the Campaign for Core Funding to secure the future of the Educate Together National Office and the multi- denominational primary school sector.
