Educate Together Ethos Conference 2014 – ‘Stimulating, challenging, shocking’

Educate Together’s Ethos Conference took place on Saturday November 22nd in the National College of Ireland, Dublin 1. It was, in pretty much equal measures, stimulating, challenging, shocking, sociable and informative.

The conference is fast becoming the highlight of the school year and a fantastic opportunity to chat, network, share good practice and gossip! This year we had workshops on both the key principles of the organisation and the Learn Together ethical education curriculum. Outside agencies and individuals gave presentations on: Female Genital Mutilation and the law in Ireland, with particular reference to identifying children at risk by Alwiye Xuseyn of AkiDwA , Internet Safety, and Mindfulness.

The conference also included open sessions whereby parents, teachers and Board of Management members could discuss and thrash out current issues and dilemmas. It was also the first year we had stands from organisations and groups, all of whom provided much appreciated financial support.

Throw in coffee, tea, soup, sandwiches and mini pastries and you had yourself a full and very satisfying day!
