The Scrapbookers Club (Outside the Box publisher) is a children’s book series suitable for the reading interests of upper-primary and 1st year secondary students. Ideal for independent reading, class novels or teacher-reading aloud sessions, the stories will spark contemplation and discussion of issues pertaining to equality, inclusion, racism and citizenship.

A Companion to the Learn Together Programme
Educate Together teachers, principals and students and their parents will recognise the stories’ school-setting with its daily endeavour to value children’s voice, be student-centred and promote democratic citizenship. Similarly, Educate Together teachers, principals and students will recognise the rough-ground and unpredictability of trying to challenge racism, homophobia, bullying, inequality and exclusion. To these ends, The Scrapbookers Club series is a subtle but helpful companion to the Learn Together/Ethical Education programmes, specifically, and to ethical education in SPHE, English, Geography, CSPE and Wellbeing lessons, generally.

“I have written these books primarily to entertain the 9- to 13-year-old reader; to find a joy in reading, experience some thrills of suspense and tension and meet peer-characters just like themselves. The successes and failures of my forty years in teaching and school-leadership inform each character, each plot, each sentence, each mishap and each mix-up. The children who attend our schools, who love our school culture, will recognise themselves and gain heart and positivity in the manner in which these characters deal with the curveballs, embrace the opportunities and flourish in wisdom and experience.”
