Our sector, and all our schools, have been created by voluntary community initiative and Ireland today would have no eqaulity-based schools without the enormous efforts of thousands of parents and their supporters. Volunteering with Educate Together provides people with the opportunity to be directly involved in changing the course of education in Ireland.
Welcome to the Volunteer section of our website.
There are a number of ways to become an Educate Together volunteer:
- volunteering in an individual schools
- volunteering as a Patron Nominee on a school board of management
- volunteering to sit on a Principal Recruitment Panel
- volunteering in the national office.
More information on each of these opportunities can be found below.
Volunteering in an individual school
If you would like to volunteer in a particular school, please contact the Principal or Chairperson of the Board of Management of that school.
A full list of Educate Together schools can be found here.
Volunteering as a Patron Nominee on a Board of Management
If you are interested in becoming a Patron Nominee on a Board of Management, contact Jessica.
Every school Board of Management operates on a 4 year cycle. The current Boards are running from December 2011 to December 2015. However, with new schools opening and Patron Nominees potentially stepping down from their roles, we are always interested in hearing from people interested in this role.
As the current term for our Board of Managment ends in December 2015, we are now seeking Patron Nominees to fill vacancies on our Boards of Management across our school network. This term will run from December 2015 until December 2019.
Any adult is eligible to be nominated as a potential Patron Nominee, from within or from outside the immediate Educate Together school community. Patron Nominees do not necessarily have any connection with the school community and it is important to recognise that new members bring fresh ideas, new thinking and new experiences.
To find out more about any of these opportunities, please contact us on 01 429 2500 or email email@example.com or download: Patron Nominee Volunteer Role Description and Patron Nominee Application form (Primary).
Volunteers from this Panel will be involved in the short-listing process and the interview process. The main objective of Principal Recruitment is to select the best person to provide strong leadership in the management and development of a school. The job involves diverse roles and responsibilities, ranging from teaching and curricular leadership to building a strong partnership with students, teachers, parents and the wider community. This volunteer role provides an opportunity for people to invest their skills in the growth of our network. In order to recruit and hire suitable Principals, we need to have a variety of skills and experience on our interview panels. More information here.
Volunteering in the Educate Together national office
The Educate Together national office is based in Dublin 2 and sometimes has opportunities to volunteer in programmes such as communications or fundraising. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in volunteering in the national office.
Volunteers in the national office are treated as equal team members and are always working alongside a paid staff member. We believe that volunteers, in their diversity of age, experience, cultural background and community involvement, bring value to our work. Engaging volunteers adds value to what we do, but never replaces the work of paid staff.
At Educate Together, we welcome the involvement of volunteers in our organisation because of the unique qualities they bring. We create opportunities for people to invest their skills in our work and we welcome volunteers in a variety of roles, both short and long-term.
Through engaging volunteers we can offer opportunities for genuine involvement, learning and development in the Education sector. Ultimately, we work to ensure that the volunteering experience is meaningful, enjoyable and fulfilling!
