Online Course: Ethical Education in Educate Together Schools

This course offers a fascinating insight into the background and origins of both Educate Together and its ethical education curriculum, the Learn Together. Find out about the rise of multi-denominational education. Learn about the growth and development of Educate Together’s ethical education curriculum and how it finally consolidated under four specific headings:

  • Moral and Spiritual Development
  • Equality and Justice
  • Belief Systems
  • Ethics and the Environment.

Immerse yourself in a variety of lessons and resources for all age groupings under all four headings.

There is some overlap in content between this course and an earlier course entitled ‘An Introduction to Educate Together and the Learn Together Curriculum’. Consequently, those who have already completed the latter are not advised to enrol in 'Ethical Education in Educate Together Schools'.

Online Course: Teaching Ethics and Social Justice - Equality and Justice; Ethics and the Environment

This course encompasses an in-depth look at two of the four strands of Educate Together’s ethical education primary curriculum.

  • Find out about climate change, surely the greatest challenge that current school-going students will face upon reaching adulthood.
  • Examine the lives of those who’ve questioned the system and left a lasting mark - people who’ve genuinely made a difference.
  • Explore the concepts of identity and diversity.
  • Learn about the very nature of democracy and how school-going children can engage with the process.
  • Consider the link between inequality and access to the world’s resources.

And achieve all of this while choosing from a wide range of practical ideas and classroom resources.

The course will be of particular interest to those not just interested in teaching ethical education but who are also interested in teaching the ethical aspects of Social Environmental and Scientific Education (SESE) Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) and Intercultural Education.

This course was previously called 'Making a Difference - Equality and Justice; Ethics and the Environment'.
