Board of Management Training 2011/2012
Module 1 – Introduction to the Board of Management
School Management Training & Events
No events to showThe first module of the Board of Management training is now available online. A letter has been sent to all boards of management advising them how to access the course. The letter contains your enrolment key which will have to be entered by each board of management member in order to access the course. Once we have collated email addresses for all new board of management members a reminder will be sent to that address.
This module looks at the board as a corporate entity and will cover the statutory framework in which boards operate, the ‘Constitution of Boards and Rules of Procedure 2011’ and its impact on the role of the board. It will also look at issues and work that boards encounter e.g. ethos issues, policies, confidentiality, fundraising, the principal’s role, the board as an employer and more.
It is envisaged that all Board members will do this module online before coming together for a face‐to‐face session to discuss questions/ queries that emerged from the module. We had originally planned to run face‐to‐ face sessions in November but this was deemed too early for the majority of boards so we have decided to postpone this until 14th January to ensure that all board members will have the opportunity to attend. Details of a venue in Dublin will be announced closer to the time.
We have compiled an Online Course User Manual for the training website. This document will guide you towards registering for the training and beginning the module. Please note that board members must register using an individual email address. The system will not allow more than one user registering with the same address. As part of the registration process you will each be asked to enter an Enrolment Key. This key is used to provide security on the site- so that only Educate Together members can join. If you have not yet seen the letter containing your enrolment key and you wish to begin the course now, please contact the office.
