Limerick School Project Hosts Educate Together’s National Forum March 2005
8th March, 2005
The second Educate Together National Forum took place on Saturday March 5th, 2005 at Limerick School Project National School, O'Connell Avenue.
The event was a great success with lots of critical discussion on major issues facing the sector. Key speakers included Paul Rowe CEO, Educate Together and Joan Crowley O’Sullivan, National Co-ordinator Special Education Support Services who presented an extremely informative presentation on current issues in special needs education for National Schools.
Educate Together is the national representative organisation for multi-denominational education in Ireland. It is currently experiencing a huge increase in the demand for the establishment of multi-denominational schools throughout the country. Fundamental to the ethos of Educate Together schools is the belief that by providing a supportive atmosphere for children of different faiths and cultural identities in schools, we can make a major contribution to the social and ethical future of our society. The organisation aims to meet a growing need in Irish society for schools that recognise the developing diversity of Irish life and the modern need for democratic management structures.
The purpose of the National Forum is to create opportunities for schools to exchange information and ideas based on experience, to provide an opportunity for schools to support each other, for personnel in schools to network with each other, to act as a line of communication between the Directors of Educate Together and schools and to consider policy issues and policy proposals for consideration at an annual meetings.
The National Office would like to sincerely thank everyone at Limerick School Project for hosting the Forum.
