Strategy and Structure
Multi-denominational education in Ireland has developed steadily since it was introduced in the late 1970's. By the mid 1980's a number of schools had been established and the need for a national approach to the co-ordination and development multi-denominational education became apparent. The Educate Together National Office was duly established with remit from its members to develop and expand the network and make multi-denominational education avaialble as a choice for every parent in Ireland.
Educate Together as the patron body to the majority of Educate Together schools (some Educate Together schools operate under their own patronage), was incorporated in 1998. It has responsibility to the Minister for Education and Skills for the maintenance of education standards in its schools.
The Educate Together National Office provides professional support and development services to its school network. Its professionally qualified staff use modern business management tools and operate to best business practice models. The National Office operates a team structure under the divisional headings of Administration and Finance, Communications, Development, Education and Network Development, Leadership and Governance.
Educate Together's core function is the provision of multi-denominational education through its network of schools. Its key long term objective is to provide the choice of multi-denominational education to every parent in Ireland. The National Office is working towards this objective on three broad programme areas; providing choice, supporting schools and teachers and piloting second-level schools.
