Aston Village ETNS Artwork unveiled by Mairead McGuinness MEP

Monday 9th June was a wonderful and memorable day at Aston Village ETNS as students, teachers and parents welcomed Mairead McGuinness (MEP) to perform the official unveiling of the Percent for Art piece ‘Cercul vietti’ (Circle of Life). The artwork was commissioned as part of the expansion of the school in recent years to its present size of 24 classrooms.

Mairead met with children, teachers, parents and others from the school community as she toured the school and surroundings paying great compliments to the whole school community. Mairead pointed out how the European Parliament represents only 28 different nationalities in comparison to Aston Village ETNS which is a community of 47 world nations. With so many different voices Mairead underlined the importance in our communities of listening to one another with mutual respect. She said ‘I will be delighted to talk about your school both in Ireland and elsewhere as a model of how people work together, people of different ages, different backgrounds and different interests.’
