Mediation
Where difficulties arise
between committees, mediation can be a useful tool to give each
side an understanding of how the situation is being experienced
by others. Mediation is of benefit where people have a vested
interest in continuing to work together. Mediation can be used
to build up trust where working relationships have broken down
between committees, or individuals within committees.
Where there are difficulties
in relations between one or more teaching staff, we would strongly
advise schools to avail of the INTO/Management Mediation Service.
This is available to all national schools, as part of the informal
stages in the Grievance Procedures agreed between the INTO, Management
Bodies, and the Department of Education and Science
