The building was completed in 10 weeks and will be shared with a new Gaelscoil for the first few months until an adjacent building is completed. Much work was done over the weekend by volunteers and teachers. The school opened on Monday September 1st. The principal is Catherine Sadlier, who states:

Catherine Sadlier

My name is Catherine Sadlier. I’m the recently appointed principal of Greystones Educate Together. I was trained in Northern Ireland, taught at Secondary level initially and have now been teaching in permanent positions at Primary level for 20 years. I have a varied experience of teaching in  schools of different faiths, but when I entered the Educate Together System in 1990, I knew I was here to stay. I spent many formative years in Rathfarnham Ed. Tog. under the direction of Paddie Murphy, before moving to Wicklow Ed. Tog. which was just a developing school .Again, I learned a lot, with the different style of leadership of Mary Feerick Byrne. I’m very excited about my new role. I have developed many different hobbies over the years, from craftwork to stagework, but I think my new job just might the most time-consuming commitment I’ve made so far!

Lucan East Educate Together National School
Lucan  East ETNS is the fifth Educate Together to open in the Lucan area. Our school is situated off Griffeen Avenue in Lucan in the townland of Kishoge. We are five minutes walk from Griffeen Valley ETNS.

The school opened on September 1st in a purpose built school building which will provide an excellent learning environment for all the children in the school’s care. This year we will have three classes. The school will eventually become a sixteen classroom school. The school benefits from being situated on a green field site and will boast two ball courts as well as designated infant play areas. We have a great start-up group who are always looking for new members.

Our school is a member of the Educate Together sector. As an Educate Together school we are guided by the four main principles as follows: multi-denominational, co-educational, child-centred and democratically run. A student secures a place in the school solely on a first-come first -served basis. Each child is queued based on the date they are entered onto the pre-enrolment list.

Eddie Fox is the Principal of Lucan East Educate Together National School. He is a graduate of UCD and St. Patrick’s College Drumcondra and recently completed a Masters in Education focusing on children’s attitudes to the Irish language as a school subject.

Eddie has worked in Education for the past thirteen years and has gained much experience in a variety of settings in both Ireland and the UK. His background has always been in education and his most recent post was in Ranelagh multi-denominational school where he spent seven years teaching a variety of different classes and on many school, curricular and planning areas.
