Letter 2
For
parents who cannot access an Educate Together School within a
reasonable distance of their home
To: Mr. Noel Dempsey,
T.D.
Minister for Education and Science
Department of Education and Science
Marlborough Street
Dublin 1 |
From: |
Dear Minister,
I am a parent of a child named
who will be aged
years and
months on September
1st, 2004.
It is according to my conscience and lawful preference
that my child be educated in the inclusive ethos of an Educate
Together school.
I have been informed that my child is unable to
access such an education in a school at a reasonable distance
from my home due to your Departments refusal to plan and
provide for my childs educational needs.
Please will you indicate what steps you intend to take immediately
to ensure that my rights under the Constitution (Article 42, Section
3, paragraph 1) are not violated and the Constitutional and Human
rights of my child are protected. Please will you also indicate
to me how I can meet my legal obligations under the Education
Welfare Act (2000) in this situation.
I am sure that you will agree that, in the light
of your responsibility to make arrangements for my childs
education this September, it is reasonable for me to expect a
reply in writing within the next fourteen days.
