Us with Our Work
Ireland needs an education
system which respects the rights of all children and parents irrespective
of their social, cultural or religious backgrounds. The potential
benefits to society and to future generations of Irish children
are immense. If you can, please make a contribution either of
your skills, time or money.
Our sector, and all our schools, have been created
by voluntary community initiative and Ireland today would have
no multi-denominational sector of education without the enormous
efforts of thousands of parents and their supporters. In financial
terms, Educate Together receives only a nominal grant from the
Government for its national lobbying, advocacy, development and
school support work. As a result of our "We need a hand!" campaign in 2006, our grant from the Department of Education and Science increased to €120,000. However this amount represents only 10% of our runnning costs.
This page links you to some of the ways you can
contribute to our work. If you do so, we guarantee that any contribution
will directly make a difference in our on-gong programmes. They
are:
Volunteer
your services to a start-up group or school in your vicinity
Volunteer
to work with Educate Togethers National Programmes
Make
a financial donation to our Development Fund
Educate Together is a registered
Charity (No CHY11816). We are a company limited by guarantee
(No: 656183) and file full audited annual returns to the Irish
companies office.
Volunteer
your services to a start-up group or school in your vicinity
You
can check out if there is a local school or start-up group in
your area from the list
on this site. You can then contact the school
and they will tell you if there is an Association or programme
that you can join. Although all established Educate Together schools
are funded by the State on the same basis as all other national
schools in the country, they need to draw on support from parents
and the local community to deliver high-quality, rights-based
education. Many of our schools have active Associations that promote
the aims and objectives of Educate Together in the area.
Please be aware that to participate in any activity
in which you will come in contact with children or influence their
environment, background references will be required. If you have
any further queries, please
contact
us at the National Office.
Volunteer
to work with Educate Togethers National Programmes
As an organisation that has been created by voluntary
effort, voluntary assistance is always welcome at Educate Together.
