Students’ Views
The ESRI is conducting a longitudinal study of students' experiences at second-level for the NCCA. There is a great deal we can learn from this research, especially about how students experience the transition from primary to second-level school. Summaries of some of the findings are available on: http://www.ncca.ie/index.asp?locID=371&docID=-1
The complete findings are available in three books, one each describing student experiences in first, second and third year. The authors are Smyth, Dunne, Darmody and McCoy and the books are available to buy on www.theliffeypress.com:
(2004) Moving Up - The Experiences of First-Year Students in Post-Primary Education
(2006) Pathways through the Junior Cycle: The Experiences of Second Year Students
